Sweet BBQ Thai Marinade is one of the best! Fresh, flavorful, sweet, spicy and absolute sauce perfection.
Coconut aminos, coconut sugar, curry powder, garlic, fresh lime juice, and crushed red pepper create the perfect marinade. Big, bold Asian flavors make this dish so good!
This Sweet BBQ Thai marinade is so simple, a few ingredients, 5 minute prep time and you are done! Let the marinade do its work and you will have the most delicious meal in no time!
Thai and Asian inspired dish. Citrus, sweet, sour, and garlicky marinade. It is perfect for chicken breast, chicken thighs, pork tenderloin, salmon, shrimp and even makes the best chicken wings. Reduce the marinade and drizzle it down on top. It is plate licking good!
My favorite way to use this delicious sauce is with a pork tenderloin. The lime tenderizes the meat and makes it so tender and juicy and just bursts with flavor!
Depending on the day I love to serve this with pineapple jalapeno rice, steamed green beans, or a plate of roasted veggies.
Need a low carb meal? Pair this with my coconut lime cauliflower rice. Just divine!
The Sweet BBQ Thai marinade pork tenderloin is also fantastic sliced over an Asian Salad or a wedge salad with chunks of blue cheese. The sweet of the sauce and the tang of blue cheese is amazing!
Have I convinced you to try this? I sure hope so! Let’s spend the next 5-10 minutes and get a pork tenderloin marinating!

Step by step instructions
- In a glass bowl, add coconut aminos, coconut sugar, crushed red pepper, and grate or press garlic.
- Squeeze fresh lime juice and mix really well. We want all the lime juice and coconut sugar completely incorporated and dissolved.
- Place pork tenderloin in a zip loc bag or glass bowl. I prefer a zip loc bag because it is less mess and easier. Pour the marinade down on top. Close the bag and place in the fridge. Let it sit for at least 4-6 hours. The longer the better! It can marinate all day if you have the time.
- Preheat the grill to 375 degrees. Grill each side for 15 minutes. Total cooking time is 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reads 170 degrees. Keep your meat thermometer next to the grill. Different cuts of meat might be a little longer.
- DO NOT discard the marinade. While the pork is cooking, place the marinade in a sauce pan. Bring the marinade to a boil and boil for 5-8 minutes.
- The sauce will reduce and you can drizzle that down on top of the Sweet BBQ Thai pork tenderloin.
Tips for success
- If you forget a fresh lime at the store, you can use the squeeze or already juiced kind. Usually in a plastic lime or glass jar. Use 1 tablespoon of lime juice.
- If you have a zester you can also zest the lime. I love the extra zing of freshness, but not necessary for the recipe.
- You can absolutely reuse the marinade for a sauce reduction. According to the USDA it needs to be boiled to remove any bacteria. Boiling a marinade for 5 minutes removes the harmful bacteria. You will be left with a reduced marinade. The marinade will have enhanced with flavor. The sauce will cut to half its volume and will be amazing over your pork tenderloin.
- If you like lots of spice and heat, you can increase the crushed red pepper to 1/4 teaspoon.
- I love to sprinkle fresh parsley or cilantro over the pork. Fresh herbs complete a dish!
- If you cannot find coconut sugar in your local store, you can substitute for brown sugar.
- I try to limit soy in my house (just a personal preference), if you don’t mind soy you can substitute the coconut aminos for soy sauce.
- A meat thermometer is very hand when you are grilling. Meats can be different size and thickness. This will ensure your meat is cooked all the way through. A pork tenderloin is cooked all the way through when the thermometer reads 170 degrees.
- I find that a zip loc bag is the easiest. Less mess and easy to transfer to the grill and back to the stove to boil the marinade.
How to store and reheat leftovers
Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 4 days.
REHEATING INSTRUCTIONS:
Microwave: Place pork tenderloin on a microwave safe plate. Heat for 45-60 seconds or until the meat is nice and warm.
Stovetop: Place meat in a skillet on medium heat. Reheat for 5 minutes or until nice and warm all the way through.
