Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
Homemade Air Fryer Mozzarella sticks that are also gluten free! They have the perfect crunch with a gooey cheese middle. Dunked in your favorite pizza or marina sauce and it is perfection! An easy how to make cheese stick recipe.
- 12 Cheese sticks
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup Cassava flour
- 1 cup Gluten free Italian breadcrumbs
Unwrap cheese sticks and place them in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Get 3 separate bowls. In the 1st bowl crack and beat 2 eggs in the dish. Place cassava flour in 2nd bowl, and in the 3rd bowl place the gluten free Italian bread crumbs.
Dip cheese sticks in the egg wash. Then place in the cassava flour. Next place the cheese stick back in the egg wash. Finally place in the Italian bread crumbs. Make sure to coat really well.
Add the breaded cheese stick to the air fryer pan and spray with olive oil cooking spray.
Set the air fryer to 400 degrees for 4-5 minutes. Depending on how crispy you want your cheese sticks.
- Make sure you leave the cheese sticks stay in the freezer for a little bit. This just helps keep all the cheese inside the breading. Ideal is 30 minutes but if you don't have time, you might have a little cheese spill out but not enough to really make a difference.
- I like to use Cassava flour (I find this brand in Walmart) but any gluten free 1:1 flour will work also. You just want a finely ground flour. It works to holds the cheese inside the coating.
- Any brand of gluten free Italian breadcrumbs will work. If you cannot find Italian style you can use regular gluten free breadcrumbs and add 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning.
